Call me a NEWBIE or casual collector BUT as I approach old age (I'm already there), retired and trying to get my estate in some semblance of order, I have some questions...
I recently purchased a copy of "ExactChange" and a copy of the Red Book of prices...

PROBLEM ONE:

I have over the years purchased a complete set of US MINT - State Quarters...
Each year has 5 coins in acrylic covers in 5 Sets...DENVER, PHILADELPHIA, SILVER, GOLD, and PLATINUM...The app and RED only list the first three...where is GOLD and PLATINUM? ...clumpted under CLAD?

PROBLEM TWO:

I have faithfully collected the Presidential dollar in "ANACS PF70 DCAM FIRST EDITION"...
Where/how do I find the value of these?

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

to CCF. For realistic values check ebay sold values. The Red Book values are at least 20% high. Here is a better source for values http://www.numismedia.com/fmv/fmv.shtml

Problem 1:
The Platinum and Gold Quarters were plated by a commercial third party after they left the mint. They probably won't be in any book.

Problem 2:

Also, I believe that you are mistaking the silver plated quarters for silver proof quarters. Only the silver proof quarters are listed in the Red Book
Rest in Peace

Even Numismedia may be high for the PR70 Pres Dollar values. I would suggest checking ebay completed auctions for those values.

and to CCF.

Welcome to CCF!

These are very common coins, unfortunately, chances are they are all worth less than you paid for them. The gold/platinum plated coins are considered PMD (Post Mint Damage) by coin collectors, they have little value above face as pure collectors are not all interested in them.

As far as values, your best bet is checking ebay completed listings. This will let you know what they're selling for today.

As others have mentioned, Red Book is a great source of coin-related information and photos but don't rely on the prices therein.

Some photos would help out too.

Good luck with your collection!
