My dad took me to the Colonial Coin shop in the arcade in Downtown Cleveland in the mid 1960's. This set hasn't been touched in nearly fifty years.

Carnold ... Nice set ... For being put together for so little.
Sets like these you can spend years upgrading.

Switching to a Dansco album will mean having some extra holes
that can be costly. 1918/7 and 1937 D 3 legged Buffalo.

I think these two coins are a big reason why I don't spend more time
on my Indian head nickel set.

-------------------------

Go-Rebels ....
That is a very nice looking set

I know I would love to have coins of that quality in my set.

And your 3 legged buffalo, to me, is the crown of this set.
Not meaning to take anything away from the 1913 type two's.

GR58, I don't consider the 8/7 or the 3-leg part of a complete set. When I get a dansco, I will put some sort of fillers in those holes. I hate that they put holes in for varieties, especially ones that cost an arm and a leg to acquire.

Carnold
I agree, I too wish the Varieties were not in any of the
Dansco albums.

That being said, there are some well known varieties that
I would love to have, if I did not have to pay prices that
are well out of my comfort range.

That is a very nice set! It has held up well over the years.

Since your folder was not labeled, you can do like I did and just get two blank Dansco nickel pages. Skip the varieties. There will be six holes at the end, but you can fill those with some duplicates or cover them.

For what it is worth, I created a miscellaneous album with six blank pages: two for cents (Indian Head), two for nickels (Buffalo), and two for dimes (Mercury). It is my pre-modern classic album.

Give me a few dates/MMs and I'll pull them out and photo the reverses.

Oh my - stunning set!

I hope the REVs of those coins are OK though. I see where the inside cover of the folder has taken an impression of the nickels. You can see circles where they were touching it.

I lost some good coins - stored properly - or so I thought - to older Whitman folders b/c the REVs were dulled and/or lost luster. I assume it was just b/c the cardboard had some residual moisture in it and/or the glue used.

I would like to see obverse and reverse pictures of
the 1937 D three legged Buffalo.

I would suggest that keeping some of these coins in a
folder may not be the best storage option.

That coin may be a easy $700 to $1000 coin.

Not sure if the Op of this thread wants this thread
being Hi-jacked. I am sure many of us would like to
see a thread with some of your nicer coins ..
and the stories behind getting them.
