Those are fun finds chip! Got to love finding a V nickel in the mix! And you're having great success at finding lower mintage S mint nickels. Congrats!

The 1942-S Jefferson shown by chipjones appears to be the fun example with a die crack through the mintmark ... making it a 1942-$
I've seen a few of these ... would enjoy a close up photo to confirm.

After having a long drought on nickels going back to when my son was here during the summer, I finally had a good box tonight. The finds were in order: 1955p undated buffalo 1944D 1943P 1950d (only our second ever!)

Well done to all nickel searchers ... this is the absolute best way to enjoys today's hobby at face value! @ JonNickelCollector ... Congratulations on your 2nd 1950-D find ... what a great feeling that is. Hopeful to view a photo someday ... truly a rare CRH find and worthy of serious acknowledgment. @ chipjones ... Thanks for the detail photo ... you indeed have a lovely 1944-$ Jefferson. The war time Jefferson are know for their various die cracks ... hard working dies during a hard working time in our Countries history. Some of the most 'appealing' to folks like me are the die cracks through the 'S' mint mark ... such as your well worn but identifiable example. David
