The Goal: 25,000 Rolls Of Nickels (All Searchers Welcome!)

I search the occasional roll or two of Jeffersons, but I'm nowhere near as dedicated as some of you. As much as I enjoy Buffalos and Jeffersons, I like Canadian nickels even more. How often do they turn up in your rolls?

The biggest regret that I have regarding this survey is I didn't keep track of the number of Canadian nickels found. I do know that the oldest one I found was a 1950, but I can only guess how many total I've turned up in the 13,000 rolls I've searched. Probably very similar to ratman; 2 or so per box on average. I am in Kentucky in Lexington, and that is right off I-75, which is a very popular tourist route from up near the Canadian border. So, tourists passing through might spend some of them while stopping in Lexington, perhaps.

I usually find 1 or 2 Canadian nickels in my boxes. Nothing real old, think the oldest was from the 70's.

Did a box last night. Results:

20 Pre-59's

I did find a 38D that was in AU shape. Steps were almost full, didnt get a chance to check it out under the loupe but I popped it into my circulated book for a well worn one. This is the third 38D I have found since I started in August. Still no 39D/S or 50D.

i did a box of nickels Monday and I found 5 1937-d buffalo's, then after thinking I didn't check if they were the three legged buffalo and I sat on my desk for at least an hour turning the coins in every direction I could think of with no luck.

I'm now at 126,000 coins searched ..... and my last box was a bit of a disappointment with 'only' 18 pre-1960 and no 'specials'

yes, I have been finding tons of 1964's in decent AU-MS however I don't keep them I just bring them back for more rolls
