AND STILL NO 2009!

I went through $30 yesterday and had a 1939 and a 1943 P War Nickel of note. A few others in the 40's and 50's also. I've been finding huge amounts of 1941 recently. I believe it's the highest mintage in the 1940s, but in the $60 I did last week I found 3 of them! I guess the great coinjar dump of 08/09 is bringing them out of the woodwork.

Your so right. The suspense builds every time I find one of those dates.

I went through two boxes this week and had some great finds.

The first box had 30 pre-1960's incl.
43-P & 45-S silver,
42-D, 38, & 38-S
(38 & 38-S were in the same roll
One of the 52-D's in this box has a faint D
1 foreign coin, Greek 1 Drachma, 1967

The second box also had 30 pre-1960's incl.
42-S, 43-P, & 43-S silver,
38 (F-VF), (2) 46-S, & (3) 59.
While I found have tons of 46 & 59-D, I have hardly ever found 46-S or 59, let alone 2 or 3 together.

All in all, what great nickel search to have during the holidays.


I've also searched two boxes of half dollars this week. I posted those results under the topic, JFK Half Dollar Rolls..

Another lackluster box from Brinks. 27 pre 1960 with No Buffalos, War or proofs. I guess all those good boxes I've gotten over the last 2 months have really spoiled me. I'm slowing down until boxes get better around here.

In fact I believe he made a comment that he regrets not keeping track of them! I keep all of them! I figure when our dollar is worthless, at least I'll have come other currency!

coin sleuth, I live in northern lower Michigan (Crawford County). The oldest Canadian coin I have found was when I was a cashier busting open a roll of nickels and I found a 1927 Canadian nickel. It was exciting and the first time I saw a coin from Canada that old. I really need to get back into roll searching.
