Well, I got the last box of nickels from the bank branch - they were really nice about it, too. Also got some customer penny rolls, so I'll probably go through those first tonight, and save the rest for the weekend.

Aside from what I already mentioned in the other thread, I hunted another 5 rolls today (3 customer rolls and 2 bank rolls). The customer rolls yielded nothing as expected, but at least I wasn't shorted a nickel. The first bank roll, however, yielded a 1943-S War Nickel and a 1949-D. No album fillers, but was happy to find silver, which is only the second one for me. It was a little surprising, though, that out of the 11 possible years/mints for War Nickels, I find another one that's exactly the same as the first one I found. Not complaining, but I thought for sure I was going to fill another hole. Oh well, still happy, though :-) |

I haven't roll searched nickels in over six years, I plan to get $20 in CWR today at the bank. Reading this thread gave me the itch again!
I plan on getting a box this weekend.

I hunted 10 customer rolls and 10 Loomis rolls tonight. Only found a 1957-D, and a lot of them were 2021's and 2022's. I guess you win some, and you lose some. Tomorrow is another day :-)

Was only able to get 5 rolls today. Found a 1957-P and a 1959-D. Nothing special, but I'm hoping I can trade in a box of nickel discards for a circulated Loomis nickels box tomorrow.
Is there a coin shortage going on? Getting harder and harder to get circulated, and even customer wrapped anything. At least in my area, that is. All the banks are complaining they don't have enough coins and are limiting what they give out.
My 20 rolls of Loomis pennies were mostly new and only yielded 23 copper cents. Worst showing in a while.

I hunted a total of 33 rolls of nickels today - traded in a box of hunted nickels for those. The first 28 rolls were nothing special, but did fill a couple of album holes with a 1940-D and a 1953-D. The first of the last five rolls yielded a 1954 something, a 2009-D, and a 1936-P Buffalo nickel. The last roll yielded another (dateless) Buffalo nickel, although I think I can make out a "2", but the last digit was inconclusive. It may also have a "D" mint mark, but it was also inconclusive. All in all, it was a good hunt. Now I have just 17 holes left, but all of them are key dates, semi-keys, and War Nickels. I did get another box from my other bank today, which I'll probably hunt this weekend. So please wish me luck!  Edited by AllSeasons

I've been searching about 12 rolls a week for the past month or so and I have not found a 2009. We have found a couple of War Nickels and a Buffalo but no 2009 . I found a 2005 Ocean yesterday that is copper color , no other damage . I have it in acetone at the moment , just not sure how it got to be that color. |

Picked up several customer-wrapped rolls at my bank yesterday. One roll appeared to be someone's nickel hoard dump--nearly all from '38-47, no silver. Included a 38D. Last three coins were from 60-61 in AU55-58+ condition.

Hunted another nickels box tonight. Unfortunately, there were no album fillers, so I'm still stuck at 17 holes to fill. The highlights of the hunt were a 2009-D and a 1936-P Buffalo nickel. I know the 1936-D is a high mintage year, but seriously, this is the third one I've gotten in a row, well, ones with dates, anyway. Not complaining, but could use some variety here. Just sayin'. I've found a total of 5 2009-D's now, but no 2009-P's. I gave the first one to my 4-year-old, who promptly lost it (somewhere in the house), so I guess technically, I have 4. I still gave the rest to her, except for one, so as not to make my oldest too jealous. She has not lost any more since, which is good. She's very excited about her 2009 coin collection, which is a mix of 2009 nickels and pennies. I started a foreign coin collection for my 6-year-old, and they're being a little competitive with each other, in terms of how many coins in flips they each have. It's pretty cute. AllSeasons - Good luck on your hunting for those elusive key dates. Completing a set of Jeffersons from the wild is certainly doable and a worthy challenge. I completed my first set last year after searching 10,984 rolls. I'm currently working on sets 2 and 3 and I'm missing four coins for each of those two sets. I need a 38-S, 39-D, 43-D, and 44-S for to complete each set.
