Started this book many moons ago and had it almost complete except a few coins ..... Picked the book back up this fall and noted most of the coins were just good to very good examples so I've been in the process of upgrading .... Still short a 1914-D and 1918/7 but I've got a real nice 21-S in XF and a nice 26-S and 13-S Type Two in XF 40 ..... I have some graded coins in my folder, yep I ripped them out of their grading case and keep the tags but they shed the plastic .... I know I'm crazy, you don't need to tell me!

You're not the first one here to crack a coin out of its slab. It looks like you're using a folder there. I suggest that you find a better long-term storage product, like an album. You have a nice collection there.

I agree with the others, you have a nice looking set going There has been some recent activity for Indian head nickels, here on CCF lately. It is making me want to work on my set. Mine really needs some upgrades ...and to fill a few more holes. Just a observation, I notice some of the coins in the album have rotated in the holes. I have a Intercept shield album (type set) and have noticed quite a few of the coins in it have also rotated. I am curious if other Intercept shield owners have the same issue.

While it may not be a dansco it's way better than a folder. It's a nice looking set for sure. I wouldn't call you crazy for cracking them out of the slabs to add them to the album. I saw a complete FSB Mercury dime set in a dansco the other weekend. The owner had all the tags from the holder nicely taped on the back of the album. If he was willing to crack out a MS62 FSB 16D I don't think anyone would bat an eye about cracking out some Buffalo nickels

Dang that's a nice set ! I have Intercept Shield albums and never had a coin rotate. Now my Dansco 7070 is really bad about loose holes but not much I can do about it and just overlook it.

Yep an intercept shield album .... And the coins are rotating inside the album ..... Lincoln Cent album I don't seem to have the same issue with coins rotating or in my type set but the nickels rotating are driving me crazy, I may get a different album!

Very nice looking set. I've cracked many coins to put in my albums as well, as a matter of fact I have a pile of graded Lincolns waiting for that rainy day.

Thanks everybody. I thought it was a folder. I love the dark color of this album. I am not a fan of the Dansco albums. That color reminds me of something unpleasant and does not show off the coins as much.

I think all the early silver and nickel coins of the 20th century will be coins that in the future will demand great prices. I may not live to see it, but some of the younger collectors will. It seems doable to get a set of Buffalo nickels and Mercury dimes in high grade for not that much money. If you collect the LSQ's and Liberty Walking half dollars it is really difficult and expensive to get the early ones in anything beyond VF condition. If you collected a set of LWH dollars in AU condition this would cost you close to $15,000 if you were able to find them. However, compared to Morgans or gold coins this is cheap and perhaps a better bargain. The LSQ's would cost you as much. Nickels, dimes, Washington quarters and Franklin halves and Roosevelt silver dimes would be cheap in comparison. By the way that set of Buffalo nickels is really fine and I would like a set like that and intend to get one. A set in AU condition would be affordable if you can avoid ebay.

I'm slowly upgrading my book quality from Whitman folders to Dansco's. I think I have right around 15 or so Dansco's. They aren't cheap, but often times I've been given albums and I'll buy them used. I'm currently working on getting myself a nice Barber quarter album, used.

Here is my 1919-S .... This is a graded AU ..... Guess which AU? Later I will post the coin in the holder as taken by Auction Company ..... I searched awhile for one like this and still not 110% happy as there Isaac light scratch obverse top but it looks worse in pic than hand!
