Here is my first for 2016, snapped it up on ebay last night (this is the seller's photo).

Very nice note! I love the intricate engraving on the reverse.
My first purchase of the year was also my first major bullion purchase. I'm not usually into bullion, but it was a good price and I don't have a lot of silver reserves. I got a 25 coin tube of 2015 Maples.

Wow that $10 note is stunning! Too bad current notes don't have this kind of style and details! some retro designs would be a welcome change. My first 2016 purchase is from Gatewest weekend sale, silver dollars, 1988,2012 Calgary,2015 Poppy. I will be taking it super slow this year. I used to buy a lot from the states, but our exchange rate is a killer. Most Canadian ebay sellers list in USD. I would need to start selling again to afford more coins. I'm just not into it at the moment.

This was my first 2016 purchase. Not a coin but an early Charlton catalogue. Cost $1.30 CDN plus shipping. Figured I couldn't go wrong at that price.

JimmyD, nothing wrong with an "old" catalog; I have lots of them. However, I did give all my old Charlton's to a young collector. Learned long ago that oft times the updated catalog leaves out some previous info. Besides, the old ones are great references IF you have the space to keep them. Edited to add: If and when you buy one with a dust jacket be SURE to keep the jacket! Bibliophiles like the jackets and books with the jackets bring more when selling.

@lucv, great score on the 2008 dollar I have 2 of them. They are my favorite silver dollar. What did you pay for it. It can be a pretty pricy coin. The design is stunning. Sometimes the mint hits it out of the park. What is your impression of the coin. I like hearing others opinions.
