I am a LONG time ebay forum participant, and member of the Coin Forgery ebay group. My interests are counterfeit and altered coins of all countries, but particularly U.S. I specialize in Counterfeit Detection of 1909-S VDB and other U.S. coins. My current collecting emphasis, however, is Silver Medals of Mexico. I got started collecting coins in 1963-4 with my father. We did not have much money, but every once in a while he would come home from the bank with a bag of cents, and very rarely silver dollars (little did we know at the time that silver would be eliminated from U.S. coinage, so we just saved a few "good ones" and turned the rest back in). :( I decided to start posting here because of ebay's intolerance for outing fake coins since they shut down their coin and stamp policy enforcement group a year or so ago. - hopefully you can help with a pet peeve of mine, which is just saying "counterfeit" without explaining why. Hi nss-52: you've certainly selected an interesting area of numismatics to work in! It is certainly one in which we all have a deep interest in...sadly, you have a lot to work with. I am so new here that I've only just learned that most coins are roundish...so I look forward to what you can share with us! In the meantime, this is a marvelous place in which to learn and share....enjoy.... Hnry |

nss! Yes, thank you for your work in this troubling area! I bought my (raw) 1909 SVDB long before I found this forum and learned how out of control counterfeiting is. |
