Yes, you heard that right, $3. My buddy was busy so the younger guy rang me up. He's only a couple years older then me, and doesn't specialize in coins. The owners don't usually let him price things, but they weren't there and my buddy let him ring me up. Last time I was there my buddy priced this coin at $50, and I passed it up. Completely forgot about it until I stumbled upon a bin that had it in there, so I asked for a price and ended up spending $3 for it.

If anyone could hit me up with a variety, that'd be awesome, if there is a specific variety at least. I'm pretty sure it's a 1795 Lettered Edge Half Cent w/ pole. There's slight traces of a pole that hasn't completely worn away. I don't think you can see it through the pics.

G-06 details is my guess, you let me know. Obverse scratched/graffiti. Reverse has problems too.

I see C-1 variety.

I would not have gotten my money out fast enough at $3.

I'd have a hard time seeing this one going for much over $50-75. I probably would have bought it at $50 after trying to haggle down to $40 or so. This one is still a hole in my type set.

Then you'll have a hard time seeing these sell for a lot more, as they are in worse condition then mine, and sold for a lot more then $50-75.

Yes, when I got into my car, my pants were destroyed.

Just kidding, I didn't actually poop my pants, but in my brain I did.

@CHD

The first one you linked, the details are better and copper collectors like ED better than mechanical damage. More "original" I guess.

In fact, after looking at the sold listings, every details coin that sold for more than $100 had significantly more detail than yours, and the wear patterns matched pretty closely with this one (221962751560), and it has less damage.

You can list it on ebay and see what happens. My bet that you would be very lucky if it crosses over the $100 threshold.

In all, I would say at a max AG-03 details, with a max value of $75.

Wow, what a steal!
That's probably why he's not allowed to price coins...

I hope the young man doesn't get fired for his mistake.

Coin is AG details, damaged (obviously), but it fills a hole, so alright then. I've seen much worse go for $100.

He won't loose his job, haha. The owner doesn't know what he has laying around the place. Everything is a mess and he literally throws coins all over the place.
