I recently picked up this coin, because I love old copper
coins. I know the grade is low .. with the value.

But the coin is bigger than a Morgan dollar, weighs 51 grams.

Just thought I would share

May I ask what you paid for it? I love old coppers like this, but it seems that the price is a lot higher than it was 10 years ago (as are most things it seems).

Hard to go wrong if you pay less than a few dollars on it.

That said, there are some scarcer mint marks, years, overweight, underweight etc. The list can go on and on.

I do like holding it. I think this is the biggest coin I have.

One of these is the biggest coin in my collection too (aside from a few extra-large chocolate coins). And I've lately been using another example as a pocket piece.

IIRC, overweight and underweight within 10-20% (of the 51 gram average weight) is typical for these coins. Not quite sure how typical, however.

Is this the largest coin type that can be reasonably easily obtained without spending huge money? I know that some rare types can be much larger, and I'm not sure whether the British cartwheel twopence of 1797 is larger or smaller (still searching for one of these, incidentally - but it's probably well out of my budget).
