Man, 56, Stabbed To Death At Irving Park's Bart's Coins And Collectibles
https://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/201...collectibles

Quote:
CHICAGO — A 56-year-old man was found dead in Bart's Coins and Collectibles on Friday night, police said.

At 5 p.m., police were told there was a broken window at a small shop in the 3900 block of North Pulaski Road, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman. Officers investigating saw the store's front window had been broken.

Apparently not much info yet on the deceased. Hopefully it is not an owner/employee of the shop. In other news I saw an article noting that homicides in Chicago are up 70% this year and shootings are up over 80%.
Rest in Peace

I saw this on the news this morning. Scary.

Yeah, shootings and murders are way up this year. So are the smash and grab burglaries.

Kind of makes me want to stay in my house forever -- and I'm not really that close to the city. It's just scary.

And doesn't Chicago/Illinois have some of the most strict gun laws in the nation?

Courtesy of Barry and the Democrats. Anyway, that's the reason Chicago is referred to as Chiraq.

If you were to remove the murders committed in just four US cities, Chicago, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and I believe St. Louis, the murder rate for the USA as a whole would drop to a level on a par with places like Denmark or Iceland.

More info in the following article. Unfortunately it appears that the shop owner was the victim found stabbed to death. On another forum a member said that the store had changed ownership a few years ago back, when Bart retired, and a new owner had come in to run the shop.

RIP. Not sure if I'd want to run a coin/precious metals shop in these difficult times.

Thanks for the update.

It's just so very sad. I think we'll see fewer and fewer coin shops in the future.

Looks like they have apprehended the criminal. If it were up to me I'd bring back the electric chair for these types of murderers.

This is so sad to see. And it doesn't seem like things are getting any better in Chicago with regards to crime this year:

I was going to go check out the other coin store that kid robbed since it is the closest one to me, but in all honestly it's not worth the risk.

Thanks for the update. Glad they apprehended the murderer but it won't bring the victim back.
