After a mini-blizzard yesterday it was much nicer today here in SE Wisconsin with a sunny day and temperatures in the high 60s. I got out for two hours and hunted a wooded area along the Milwaukee River just north of Milwaukee.

I only found three coins, but they were all nice ones. I dug up a 1918-D Lincoln Cent at about four inches and, when I rechecked the hole, picked up another signal. After some more digging I was rewarded with a 1920 Mercury dime. They're both pretty worn, so I suspect they were most likely dropped in the 1940s.

About fifteen feet away I found a 1947-D Lincoln Cent that must have been just about new when lost.

I got back to my car just as it started to sprinkle and by the time I got home fifteen miles away the temperature had dropped to 48!! That's springtime in Wisconsin for you.

Nice finds!
Spring in the Pacific NW is quite a bit warmer. It's been in the 70s recently and is supposed to reach 80 on Thursday.
Rest in Peace

I'm across the road in Minnesota and I hit frost at 4 inches yesterday, so I'll have to wait a bit yet.

Did find a sweet 1931 S Buffalo nickel and a small 14K gold cross, and a dozen common cents. So I was pretty unhappy when I was getting a good silver signal at 7" but couldn't get down to it. It was in a yard so I didn't want to dig too much. Property owner perfectly happy with me coming back since I gave them the gold cross.
Rest in Peace
