I am colour blind but the colour seems off, they are not graded (which when you have something like this they should be) and are priced low.

Part of me wants them to be real so I can get a good deal but they look off some how. Can someone confirm these are fake beyond a reasonable doubt? I just want a second opinion before I throw a bid out.

Thank you everyone.

I am not a bank note person, so don't go by my word, but I don't see anything that jumps out comparing it to this from the Coin Cabinet. Seems priced appropriately, given the comparable condition too.

, I don't see anything wrong with them either except, being junk, probably that's why the price is some what low.

A remainder 1861 $1 in AU sold for $126.00 on HA...

The notes look legit.. but so badly beaten up I can't see why you'd want to pay that price. (you said it's a good price but I don't have enough research to tell me otherwise)

Question would you rather have two notes that are days away from disintegrating or would you want to get one nice example for the same money?

I would give these two notes a pass personally .. there's nicer notes out there..

As for circulated green coloured notes in general, while I'm no expert, I've noticed they are prone to inconsistent shades of fading from one note to the next. The reason might that green is not a primary colour - it's a mixture of blue and yellow, and black for darker shades. Possibly paper banknotes were exposed to conditions that caused either the blue or yellow to fade more, resulting in the green taking on a different hue. How I know this is because my dad collected different coloured circulated 1954 $1 banknotes during the '60s, believing they were die errors. I don't think they are...

If these are available for double the bid open in AU condition, I wouldn't touch these, just wasting your money.
