I picked up this album a few months ago, thinking it would
be a good place to put my Two Cent and Three Cent Nickel coins.

This week I was offered a good deal on a 1869 and 1871 Two Cent.
Those coins filled the last of the easier coins for the first page.

The first page consist of what Dansco considers a set
of Two Cent coins. I am thinking those last holes for
the Two Cent page will cost well over $100 each for lower
grade coins,

The second page is for Three Cent Nickel coins, 23 in all.
At this point I only have 8 of those holes filled. I have
not done a lot of research on these, but I am thinking some
of those later dates are going to be higher priced.

I do want to say this is just a set I am doing for fun, a set
to help with my addiction for filling empty holes.

Here is what I have so far .. opinions welcome.
Oh .. is any one else doing this album?

You should be glad that mint marks were not used at that time.

Not in my current lineup of things to do, but certainly nice looking. I need to get other basics first.

Great collection! And thanks for including the picture of the spine of your Dansco. I was wondering if model numbers were printed on Dansco spines. Now I know!

Very nice set so far. I haven't seen a dansco album for nickel Three Cent pieces and Two Cent Pieces. Very cool.

Nice! The 2 and 3 Cent coins are some of my favorite US coins!

Thanks all

One of the things I like about this set, is that it not a popular
set that everyone collects. Sort of interesting having
something different.

And of the coins I have bought so far, none have been high
priced. But I am only buying low to mid grade coins.

You are right about the Two Cent Pieces they well definitely be over $100 each unless you can cherrypick a low grade 64 Small Motto that has the motto completely worn off. Learn the diagnostics that don't involve the motto and they can be found. the 72 though your going to have to pony up the money.

On the nickel Three Cent pieces you should be able to get the 73's and the 74 without too much trouble. The 88 and 89 will be tougher but possible for not a lot of money. The rest of them though (79, 80, 82, 83, 84, 85, and 87) are going to be TOUGH and costly. In fact believe it or not the easiest way and usually cheapest way to fill those holes is with proofs, especially on the 84 - 87. I still need the 84 but I want circulated pieces. The 1885 had a business strike mintage of only 1,000 coins which I think is the third lowest mintage non-gold business strike coin. First lowest is the 94-S dime (hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars), second is the 1796 half dollar (tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars) and the fourth lowest is the 1796 Half Cent (tens of thousands of dollars), fifth is the 1884 Three Cent piece. But the 84 and 85 Three Cent pieces are in the hundreds to a couple thousand dollars.

Thanks for the very informative post.

I think I will be able to complete the Two Cent page, but the
Three Cent page might take many years and still not get
all the holes filled.

In the past year I have passed up two different 1872 2 cent coins,
they were in being asked low $100's, but they both had problems.
If another problem coin comes by at a low enough price, I might
take a problem coin to fill the hole. Same for the small motto.
