It is not genuine. It is probably a recent numismatic forgery.

Some collect fakes. I would keep it.

In this case, that the creases between the dentils do not extend all the way out to the edge of the coin is a dead giveaway that it's not genuine. If it's also ferrous (a magnet being attracted to it), that'd further nail it down as a modern numismatic forgery of little value. Regardless of what it's made of, the weight is likely off. Lastly, it's typical for these to have an edge that will also say, "no way."

What you are referring to are the assayers initials. They appear on 8 reales to designate the assayer in charge at the time the coin was produced. AN 1801 should have assayer initials FT or FM depending when during the year they were produced. There are also some "over assayer" varieties where the die was changed but the original assayer can be seen. Below is an 1801 FT/FM where the remains of the original "M" can be seen to the right of the "T"
