Ok, so I recently found a container thing, nothing much to me at first, but then I discovered that this thing was loaded with wheat pennies! So I've been looking over them, pulling out some very nice ones and just some random ones, and also pulling out the 1943 steel pennies. Excluding the ones I am for sure keeping and the steel pennies, here's my total: 156 wheats! Here's a picture of them Loads of them huh? Well, I did spot a nice red one in there, and most of them have pretty good shape reverses with nice wheat stalks! I read somewhere that the value of a Wheat penny is partially determined by how well the wheat stalks are detailed. Can someone confirm to me if that's true? Anyways, I wanna know how much value I can get out of this many wheat pennies considering they are wheats are usually 9-14 cents above face value in average condition depending on the dates and stuff. Hey, when you got that many wheats that does bring some weight to the container you know there's some money! Edited by BoojiBoyTravis 04/26/2016 10:49 pm

156 wheats will probably bring you about $3, maybe a little less or a little more. I say three dollars under the circumstance that you sell them in a traditional way, the "as is" lot on ebay. From my experience with resaling them online, you can count on $3. I sell them online and usually manage to get, for the condition that they're in, maybe $3 for the ones you have, though the years may be good and I'd be interested to hear where they came from, the years, mint marks, and better pictures. If it's worth your time, I'll offer you $5 & I'll cover shipping. I think that that would be a very fair price considering you have already sorted them. I'm offering that in case you're looking to get rid of them, as I already own ten thousand five hundred wheat cents and sell them so 250 (150, whatever) isn't substantial but rather a way to add some diversity to my store. Alternatively, you could I: put them in 2x2s and sell them for a dollar or two a piece, though this only works if you have a physical store & mark them with price, year, etc. II: Add them to a folder (or, much better, an album, though folders are easier to sell quickly). III: Just hang on to them. They tend not to appreciate in value much, but you may be interested in collecting them. From the sounds of your thread, however, you're not.

Travis....nice batch. .. And yeah, Wheats in the 1940's and 1950's would be worth .02 cents apiece. ...maybe .03 cents depending on where and how you sell them. If you have older dates, please list them, could be some better value in there. But why not just keep them and start a Lincoln Cent coin album ?

Wheat's are nice , but finding 156 at one time is awesome . Common circ. wheat's are selling at shows for $2-$4 a roll. but keys and semi-keys can have a lot of value . So how did you find them ?

So to the question of where I found them, it's in my original post I have mainly got 40's and 50's wheat pennies, D's and P's, excluding the 1943 steel pennies I have, so they are common ones. I do have a big key date, I believe one or a few 1955's, because of that extreme double die

Perhaps you could show us the ones you're keeping, maybe they have some value, but as noted above, you've only got a few bucks worth here.
