I had the opportunity to get back to the Bible Camp I hunted with my friend Tony in April, the spot where I found the 1873
Indian Head cent. I had Friday free so I drove the 60 miles there for a four hour hunt. It was cloudy and humid, but I had the place to myself and had a great time.
Almost all the goodies came from the same spot, an outdoor worship area with benches down by the lake. The newer benches must have been put up where an older worship area was. In this one spot I dug up a well-worn 1924
Mercury dime and nine Wheat Cents. Most were from the 1940s and 1950s, although there is a very worn one that looks like it might be a 1922-D.
I also found two other Wheaties in other areas of the lawn leading down to the lake, lots of modern coins and a junk silver-colored ring. I showed my finds to the camp director and his staff and he was amazed I had found so much on the property.
I hope to get back there later in the summer for another hunt.
