Do you own that note? If so, how much did you buy it for? If you found it, where and how did you find it?
Cool note man!

These were purchased off of ebay as a raw set. It was many years ago, and I have no idea what I paid for them. Try to find another! Thanks for looking.

Those are really cool.
I hope you can find more -- that would make a great collection.

Awesome pair @jimbucks...same series, same serial number, same district, same plate position, same denomination and same grade.

Very nice set! but how is that possible? isn't the error/damaged bill suppose to be destroyed when it's replaced with a star?

Quote: Very nice set! but how is that possible? isn't the error/damaged bill suppose to be destroyed when it's replaced with a star? Star notes are used as replacement notes for damaged and misprinted notes, AND sometimes as common circulating notes. The BEP hasn't used serial number matched star notes since 1910. Typically, if the BEP doesn't have a need for some of its star notes, they are distributed in packs of 100 just like non-star notes.

I think this "pair" is just coincidental. The stars had their own separate numbering system. In this case, the "88 star" note probably replaced a damaged note with an unrelated serial number - I say probably because the SN is so low that it was no doubt needed in the ordinary production process rather than being released later in a pack.
Just my opinion.
In any event, a remarkable pair.
