This ebay seller does list all his "Created" high serial number cutting errors as "fake" errors (check sellers other listings), yet he currently has two series 1976 $2.00 low serial number STAR Notes that was made from a Genuine, Low production serial number sheet sold to the public by the BEP..

It is troubling that this seller makes no mention of this as a created error made outside the BEP, and also troubling is the fact that they created two different types of cutting errors, separated by the 20,000 skip-numbering used for this series production serials..

Serial number F00714563* (plate position D1) shows a Vertical cutting Error, while serial number F00734563* (plate position E1 from the SAME sheet) shows a Horizontal Cutting Error (with the left side being from plate position A1 - not pictured)..

Those that know serial number skipping and COPE's Assigned Serial Number Plate Positions, also know that COPE is NOT going to trim 2 different types of cutting errors separated by one plate position..

The following 3 links show 3 different Blocks of 1976 sheets of low serial number 16 subject sheets..

IMO even dealers not aware that the BEP sold low serial number Star Sheets from left over production runs can fall for this scam..

***Below is the following from uspapermoney.info's website***

Quote:

Uncut Currency Sheets &c.
Modern uncut sheets
Since 1981, the BEP has sold full and partial uncut sheets of currency directly to collectors. (Current series uncut sheets can be purchased at the BEP's online store.) Initially only $1 sheets were available, but $2 sheets were soon offered as well, and higher denominations have been added more recently. In most cases, the uncut sheets have had special ranges of serial numbers, higher than the serials used on notes printed for circulation; these separate serial ranges serve primarily to prevent dishonest persons from creating fake "miscut" error notes by chopping up the sheets at odd angles. However, uncut sheets of star notes frequently represent leftovers from regular production print runs, rather than special printings for collectors, and so the star sheets do not use these special high serials

I believe the Bureau of Engraving & Printing should have destroyed all left over production sheets, or issue them individually..

Anyone else agreeing that this is dishonest should share this thread and spread the word..
The BEP also released higher denomination / low serial number Star Sheets from regular production runs (this can be found on uspapermoney.info's website.

Interesting how the first link is listed as a "False cutting error" while the second link is not.

The seller made revisions to the listing 2 hours AFTER I posted this..

There was no mention of "False" listed it the Title or Description when I posted this..

Now I'm curious if the seller is a CCF member!

I've bought from Bill before (Bills Hobby Shop) and after reading this thread, I sent him a message saying that I was very disappointed in this and other listings, and would not ever buy from him again. He didn't reply, but he did revise the wording.

"False Miscut"

Still not exactly clear and potentially misleading.

"Deliberate Miscut" would be a better choice of words, IMO...

This Seller (BillsHobbyShop) has been listing and selling this JUNK for months on ebay. I got tired of reporting it as ebay never seemed to do anything to stop it.

Hope y'all have better luck getting them to do something.

The 2006 $1 Philly note, shown above, is a post BEP, fake, poorly cut error. Cut from a sheet. It is not a legitimate error note. I hope you didn't pay more than a dollar.

What do I think?

I think you got yourself a fake, false, faux homemade cutting error similar to what is being sold on ebay from the notorious "bills_hobby_shop" (mentioned in this thread) and others like him.

Buying this stuff just enables those sellers to create more "errors" just like it.

Return it and get your money back.

Unfortunately, you have a fake cutting error made outside the BEP by an unscrupulous person using an uncut sheet.

The serial number is above 96,000,000 and the C-C block from Series 2009 was only available from the BEP store.

With all the fake cutting errors on ebay, when you come across a genuine one and send it to PMG, they have zero knowledge of what a real cutting error looks like, and sends it back ungraded..

I couldn't believe so-called currency experts could NOT confirm this...

It had taken multiple calls & emails to advise them the BEP released ZERO uncut sheets from this Block, let alone the serial number was from Run #7 and not above 96000000...

I thought I had problems with PMG on this note, you should see the hack job they did on my recent (and last) submission, 2 Pakistan 1000 Rupee double serial number errors (1 with 2 different Prefixes)..

I had to make corrections on both holders, and sent a not so nice email saying I'm glad I had PMG Holder my bank of England triple serial number error back in 2006, as their graders today could have never holdered that note..

I did mention I should have submitted the Pakistan errors back in 2007 when I first purchased them..
