What happens with variety collecting is this:
Your eye at first doesn't recognize something collectibles. With time you start to notice differences like machine doubling/die cracks/damage/something different one coins. (That is just the first step to this addiction.) Then you find your first variety coin, and you are amazed! you've found something that is "something" The eye learns something. Pretty soon you train the eye to find doubled dies. There are many different types to learn what to look for. And after a time your finding them or still looking for them. then you look even harder and think you find stuff, but it may too minor to keep, or you keep it just in case it will be collectible. But you get to a point where you need to know what it too minor to keep. Because you start to find very minor things, then you have to tell yourself to back off looking too hard. So you eye is always in adjustment. Finding/seeing/reducing what you find to real collectibles. You can go overboard on anything. finding the correct balance will help you to enjoy the hobby.
