I spent 2 hours at a local flea market today, there was a lot of people selling junk silver coins. I had to come home empty handed, I just couldn't see myself paying $16.99 for a half dollar and the melt down price was $7.50 at the time.

I agree. I would of mabi tried to talk them down to reality on a bulk purchase but otherthan that not worth the hassle if they are that far off-stick with ebay where theres more competition and prices closes to reality

I was just observing since I'm new at this, but I did show one guy the conflation app and try to negotiate but he wasn't budging.

Lots of sellers at flea markets are absolutely clueless as to value. I've seen it work both ways. Asking too much for some stuff and selling other stuff way below market value.

Maybe that's why they sell at the flea market and do not have a brick and mortar store.

I'll tell you, I really wanted some of those coins. Someone told me that I have to practice patients in this industry.

Welcome to the world of over-priced coins! You will never convince someone that they are selling for twice what it is worth. So don't waste your time, just move on and find someone such as a local Coin shop who sells for market value.

By the way, it is not just coins; fleece markets are great places for over-paying on almost anything.

You need patients to be able to afford their prices, that's for sure.

oriole's advice is sound - don't waste your time looking for coin bargains at flea markets.

Bosstown, you say you wanted some of the coins "badly". Was there something about them that attracts you other than the silver content? I am asking because a good way to get silver coins at a good price is to focus on foreign coins on e-bay.

What do you consider to be a fair price on halves?

I'm looking for pre 65's. The melt down value was around $7.25 earlier.

You should never sell any coins, junk or not, to get high
