Anybody else heard this? I bought 3 items totaling under $30 from a single seller (a seller with over 1,000 transactions and 100% positive feedback) and s/he just wrote me asking that I leave feedback saying ebay is holding funds hostage until I leave it. -----Burton 50+ year / Life / Emeritus ANA member (joined 12/1/1973) Life member: Numismatics International, CONECA Member: TNA, FtWCC, NETCC, EveryCountry (online) coin club Owned by three cats and a wife of 40+ years (joined 1983) Author: 3rd Edition of the Sample Slabs book, https://www.sampleslabs.info/

That's one way to get feedback. But really I'm not knowledge on the matter.

As far as I know there is no ebay rule saying a Buyer or Seller has to leave any feedback. It has always been a courtesy but has never been an obligation. (Unless things have changed recently.)

That's a new one on me. Just hang tight, and let the seller earn the negative feedback all on their own

As far as I know, ebay doesn't manage funds at all. PayPal may, but PayPal and ebay are separate companies now. I call BS on this one.

Don't do it B. Call ebay and let them know the situation. As far as I know leaving feedback as a buyer will prevent a not received or SNAD refund in it's tracks if you need to file one

If they were a new seller, possibly. From what I recall when I started selling, New sellers funds are held with a release date that was over a week, once feedback was left it cut the release to 3 days. I am not sure if that still holds true, but it sounds like BS to me.
The only other case would be if the seller was inactive for a long period, say 6 months and started selling again and does not have a "kitty" on his pay pal balance.
No feedback til you get the coins. JMHO

It doesn't make any sense to leave feedback until you have received the coins. What would you say:
"I haven't received the coins yet but I am sure that they will be wonderful when I get them"?

I have them, just haven't had time to eye ball them and log them in to my spreadsheet which is generally when I leave feedback.
The are nothing special, just PCGS ratler dime samples of various year/mintmarks that sold at reasonable prices.
The seller has over 100 sales in the last month and several hundred in the last 3 months.
I'm just depressed and in a cranky mood today.
And not -solely- with these guys, it's the other idiots who took my money, printed the shipping label, apparently forgot to send the coin, found it and relisted it. That one is going to be hard NOT to neg.

Ouch B. Did they give you a refund? Maybe they thought it went too cheap and decided to pull some BS? I'd at least bid on it again up to the previous price. Maybe you'll get it cheaper and put a craw in their butt at the same time. Those sellers have no understanding of business ethics. If it were me, and I really did lose it I would message the seller immediately after I found it and offer it at less then what they originally won it for. Those guys have no understanding of customer satisfaction and grooming an audience.

Cascade- it's not quite THAT bad, and I'm applying Hanlon's Razor (Never attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity). It didn't go cheap, it went at a fair price. I suspect that what happened was that the auction ended and they pulled a shipping label from ebay (that's what starts the process and generates the notification I received). Then they forgot, mislaid, etc. Somebody else found the slab and relisted it. I was told they were looking into it and would get back to me by end of day. They didn't, but the new auction was pulled down. So I sent them another message last night reminding them that they had not contacted me and telling them I expect the tracking number for the shipment of my coin this morning. We'll see... -----Burton
