Hello all. I am a new member from NC recently entered into the wide world of coin collection after inheriting a few hundred coins from a grandparent. Instead of just selling everything, I've instead sorted and resorted through everything, started selling the less grade and value coins and while doing so have been winning some better and more valuable coins like this one. I won this beauty from an auctioner who posted terrible photos of a two coin lot of Two Cent Pieces. It just happened that no one exceot for me noticed the one coin shrouded in shadow had telltale signes of some outstanding detail. So I won the auction at a pretty rediculously low price and the rest is history. So what I'm wondering is if I scored a mint state coin, or just a higher grade almost uncirculated example.

Looks uncirculated to me very nicely struck. Although it may have been cleaned and looks like corrosion is starting judging by the greenish haze or perhaps pvc damage. I am no expert on this series. I'd wait for more opinions.

Very close to MS but I think it saw some very light circulation. AU-58

Thank you for the feedback. There isn't any green apparent on the coin when in hand. I believe that may be from the slight enhancements I made digitally while editing the photos. Although there is an interesting tiger strip pattern where it seems the original red shows through, like light through clouds or a marbled effect. The only wear I can find is an almost phantom trace on the upper horizontal shield lines.

I was looking at the dark spots on the top edges of the arrows and WE in motto where the original surface looks disturbed. It's a beauty though, wish I had a whole set in this grade.

Not quite MS IMO but, very nice coin, I'd call it AU-58 but, may look better in hand.

So difficult to accurately judge wear on a coin like this from pics only.

On this design, wear first shows on the word WE, the arrow points and the tips of the leaves. I'm not seeing that here so there is a good chance its MS albeit on the low end. my call is MS60. very nice piece

Nice pick up - I see no wear on the coin, but there appears to be circulation rub. AU 58

I think this would grade around MS-61. Has seen some light handling but rub is not enough to keep it out of mint state.
