I posted about this coin several years ago. I had sent it to ANACS and the grade seemed a little low to me and to most of the CCF graders who responded to the thread. I recently cracked it out and submitted it as a raw coin to PCGS. How do you think it did?

64 minimum. I think it should grade 65 though. Reverse discoloration holds it there IMO.

Could well make 66 if the beautiful obverse prevails.

Here's the ANACS slab, before cracking. I had sent it in without specifying whether it was a proof but ANACS had no trouble getting that correct.

ANACS must have really knocked this one down based on the discoloration on the reverse. At least PF65 and my first thought was 66. the obverse is near perfect

The "discoloration" on the reverse appears to be natural toning, with a basically neutral effect on eye appeal. I can't see that being a reason for a downgrade. The small vertical nick at the top of the V seems more likely to be grade-limiting at this level.

PCGS graded it PR-66 which seems accurate to me, and a nice upgrade from the harsh ANACS grade.
