Hey guys!

Thoughts on this? Check out the "BE" in "Liberty."

I still have a lot of trouble deciphering between a true doubled-die and a double punched or stamped coin. These pictures don't do justice to the clarity of the divided lines in the coin, in person. (And while I'm at it - any advice for photographing coins? Right now I'm just using my iPhone with a Hastings Triplet 10x 18MM scope... having some trouble when it comes to very detailed coins, as this one).

Thanks!

Looks like an older die gouge that now has die flow over it. It is not a BIE. BIEs are more of a chip issue and mostly on cents.

I opened this thread counting on seeing the "Lincoln Dime"....oh well!

I don't think you are asking about a "BIE" - you were asking to look at the BE. I see how they look a bit "fat" but they do not appear to me to be a Doubled Die.

I'd agree that is is a die gouge. Also the cent has Lincoln on it and the dime has Roosevelt on it

If you're referring to whats happening with the inside of the two devices, then looks to be Machine Doubling or Die Deterioration as it is a later die state.

As for photographing coins, your pics look better than mine. That said there is a section here with lots of advice, tips and tricks that can help better than I can. Thanks, Doug.
