so I know there is definately Machine Doubling on this penny. but I am fairly certain it also has double die. it is most obvious in the 4 of the date, and the S in god we trust. but its there in all the in god we trust I think. and in the 9's of the date are harder to see...

I am not a photographer... I hope my pics are good enough.... I apologize for the string one on of the images...

any thoughts?

I really appreciate your help

I don't see any DD. I see some MD, and I think the term for other areas are LDS (late die state).

On Die Deterioration the devices flow towards the closest rim. On the date to the right side, LIBERTY to the left side and motto on the tops of the devices.

ok, so I get what your saying. and that makes sense for the 4 and the 9s... but I just want to make sure we are looking at the same thing for the S..... the extra S I have arrowed, and drawn. those are the same Die Deterioration?..?

Above the "T" there is a split plating issue. The strike was so strong it broke through the plating leaving the zinc exposed. That may also be an issue with the lower loop of the 'S' as well. I see gray there also.

There does appear to be some doubling, but that's from the old die and loose pieces that may have allowed the die to rotate a little in between strikes. You can tell it's definitely not a doubled die because doubled die errors have rounded peaks, whereas varieties and mint damage have more shelf like, flat tops.
