Hello! Wow ive been very inactive here on the CCF recently Anyways I was at my local coin club meeting last night and they had a silent auction like always, and one thing that caught my eye was a bag of 17 wheat cents from the 1910's. So, no sooner had I glanced in the bag I saw an AWESOME 1917 D staring back at me! I won all of the coins for $3, and there were some other goodies in there that ill share latter... Anyways, looking at the coin now id say its a solid VF-30, maybe details because it has some hits but otherwise its a very nice coin. Thoughts? After that, one of our older members gave a little presentation about collecting Omaha Coin Club memorabilia. We are Nebraska's oldest Numismatic organization, being founded in 1934, and so naturally there is a looooottttt of stuff we put out! Anyways, so after his presentation, he said that he had some coins that the club had slabbed a while back that he would be selling for like a buck a pop... So naturally, I got all three of the designs! Anyways, I figured they are pretty cool slabs even if they dont have a lot of value. This is the one time where you buy the SLAB, NOT the coin!

Awesome deal COTW. Reverse pic of the '17 D is a bit blurry, but I think that could push VF-35 maybe XF-40.

Your first two samples aren't in the first edition of the sample slab book (They might be in the second edition but that's at home), but they do list the 900th meeting in an ANACS slab at $6. The ICG sample is in the book and it is listed at $12. Yep, buy the slab not the coin. You did very well.
