Too weird, I haven't noticed these scratches/scrapes until now. I had the quarter a couple of days ago and now in today's change I find another. These marking are not angled at all - just horizontal. Just wanted to confirm. thanks Edited by CoinCents 08/30/2016 7:01 pm

Amazing coincidence. Never saw those scrapes on a dime before -- so that's interesting.

I got the impression from my last post that they were one in the same. Die Scrapes aka feeder finger scratches.

The are centrally located, so I'm leading more to feeder finger scrapes. Die scrape would be just a gouge. There are several located in the same direction. They flow behind the devices, so it is a die issue.

Thanks all - I'll mark this one in as Feeder Finger Scrapes.

The die is clearly abraded, but by what? I don't know enough about the current presses but I don't believe they use feed fingers any more.

There is a definite direction going on with that die. But it is a die issue of some type.

The new Schuler horizontal presses utilize gravity feeding tubes for the planchets, feeder fingers should not be involved.

I posted an almost identical series of marks on a 2012 dime awhile ago. I was thinking feeder finger scrapes as well. https://goccf.com/t/198285

Thanks for sharing your post link - Yes, yours seems to be the same thing as my dime. I also found some on a 2016 Shawnee quarter, but that one is not nearly as scraped up as our dimes are. They are really cool looking. https://goccf.com/t/268279coop - thanks for adding on my new logo to this one :)

Just found another in today's change. And they appear to save the same die cracks and chips at the bottoms of the torch.

It is from the same reverse die. There maybe a bunch more in your area. Keep looking.

Will do, unfortunately my bank won't open again until Tuesday. I will get a few rolls next week.

What happens a bin of coins will get rolled and sent out to a certain city/cities. So they will have a lot in those areas and others area you may never seen them. So snag them up and you might be able to trade someone for something they have plenty full in their area.
