I've lived in the northeast all my life, and as such have never had problems finding Philly coins in change. Denver coins have always been dicey; while not as plentiful as Philly coins, they tend to show up eventually.

But my ability to find Denver quarters in change has gone down dramatically in the last seven years. To wit: I have 51 of the 55 D quarters in the Statehood/Territory series from 1999 to 2009. But of the National Park series from 2010 to 2016, I have only three of the 35 possible D coins.

Anybody know why this might be? I check my change just as much as I always have.

Coin velocity is slowing to a crawl. The quarters willstill be low grade AU when they get to you but it will take longer now.

Of course the mint shipped some of the states coins longer distances to improve distribution and they are no lonmger doing this. The coins have farther to go and are moving more slowly. They'll get there.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

Here in the Northwest, it's naturally the other way round. Even roll hunting, I rarely ever see Philly coins struck in the last six or seven years, and earlier ones are also scarce. Even for many nickel dates in the forties and fifties I get as many S coins as P. I agree with cladking that they just take a while to spread out much after the initial distribution- the main way I get my hands on recent Philly coins is just by going further east.

I agree with Cladking ....

Also seems like banks were able to order the State Quarters when they
first came out ...

Jpsned ... As for the State and Territory quarters .. There are 56 .. Not 55

I believe that is correct. They were able to get them as they came out. Now they just get whatever the fed sends them and of course fed banks are served by the closer mint.

In Arizona we are waterlogged with D coins. During my one year stay in Las Vegas, some 2014P dimes fresh out of the mint were showing up, but that was the only exception I've seen in my years out west.

It's not unusual for me to get S cents from 1968-74.

The only P coins I see seem to be those from the 80s, that slowly found their way here.

Wow, that is so cool. Whenever I look at my change and see a mintmark, my heart races. And imagine still getting "S" coins in change. I have a special shrine just for S coins I've found in change. It ain't that big.

Whenever I find an American coin in my change, it is almost always from Denver. I got my sixth National Park quarter today, and out of those six, five are from Denver.

Where-Are-All-The-Denver-Washington-Quarters? Where-Are-All-The-Denver-Washington-Quarters?

Of course, I had to pay a wee bit more than $0.25 for it...

I've been able to find a number of Philly ATB Quarters in circulation here in Denver. Over two rolls worth of them now.
I found almost none during 2010, but over the next few years the mintages rose, the economy sped up and people began traveling again.
My newest P from circulation is a Cumberland Gap, so they do still take some time to get here....

I still need 6 P mints of the State Quarters for the circulated set. I have only 1 or 2 of ATB`s with P mint. I like the price of $.25 each

I have several rolls of S mint cents from change. recently a 70s small date from Taco Bell and several 60d small date no P small dates.

Fairly common in Wa state
