I've been looking for an affordable (for me) example for some time. Here's one graded by NGC. Obviously lower end but it received a clean grade- no details. Pics are the seller's as they are much better than I could get. Pics are almost too good, though. Coin looks nice in hand for the grade. What do you think?

I think NGC probably gave this one VG8.

Net G6, however the surfaces do display a moderate amount of granularity. I'm surprised it graded clean due to this. maybe due to its lower grade and no other major issues they overlooked it.

G-6. Anything over that and I think it's over graded. The porosity is borderline "details" territory.

That being said, I would gladly own it. It is a respectable coin!

The uneven strike is common for the date. Looks like an S-161 (R2). My grade would be VG7-VG8 sharpness net G5/avg- with moderate porosity. A TPG would probably go VG8, should be in a details holder but you said it pulled a full grade so TPG must have thought the porosity was market acceptable in the grade.

I'd think G-4 and I'm also a bit surprised it got a straight grade. The void at the top of Liberty's head looks like some kind of damage.

I am new to this series but I would say at least G 6 based on wear from Photograde and ANA Standards, at least that's what I thought from the pics. I can see why the porosity keeps it at a 4 and that must have been NGC's thinking.

Wow...not really shocked of the G4 grade but I figured NGC probably gave it a little slack and bumped it up a little since it does have pretty good eye appeal for the grade. You got a deal if you paid G4 money for this one.

It probably got netted down for the surface porosity.
