EF-40, cleaned and retoned. It is matket-accpetable, though, but it's not original.

I agree with the 40, but am not certain on the cleaning. It does have the halo associated with a dip and rub and the fields look awfully monotone. In hand necessary for me to declare.

Also at 40, perhaps 45, but admit it does look almost too evenly colored.

EF 45

I would not say details/cleaned without seeing it in hand.

I am leaning toward problem free

Easy EF detail but agree the surfaces have the dull look of an old cleaning. Liberty's forehead area does look odd; maybe just a contact mark, or maybe a re-engraving attempt? I'd take a close look at that area to see what's going on.

XF40 and like most stated has been dipped at one point, whether or not you consider it market acceptable is up to you. No idea what happened to her head.

XF-45, cleaned -- not sure if a TPG would assign it a details notation or not.

EF sharpness, but the color is really off if the photo is accurate. I'd say that it has been re-colored with sulfur, perhaps to hide some hairlines from cleaning. If you have a good 10X glass and look at this coin from different angles under a strong light source, you might see hairlines.

I learned about this through "the school of hard (numismatic) knocks. I thought that this coin was "a great find" until I learned better. It had cleaning hairlines under the gray toning and could not be graded by the major services.
