I'm sure we'd all be making a lot of coin dealers very happy if we had that kind of money!

Amazing coin, in such high grade...it would be interesting to know the coin's lineage and how it was so well cared for over the years...imagine how many things could go wrong along the way over 200 years!

Nice one. Too bad I just used my spare change somewhere else, though...

Beautiful coin - but as an Englishman it never fails to amaze me what huge prices really high grade US coins can command, when compared with extremely rare British coins. It makes the 1933 penny that fetched £72,000 a few months ago look like a real bargain!

Quote: It makes the 1933 penny that fetched £72,000 a few months ago look like a real bargain! Talking about a bargain. This coin is extremely expensive compared to the equally rare German 50 Pfennig 1949 J, with 'Bundesrepublik Deutschland' instead of "Bank deutscher Länder". This coin also has a mintage of 7 pieces and goes for about 10.000 Euro.

Which may be why a coin dealer on another thread I started thinks world coins will be the next hot trend. If he's right, some of you guys may be sitting on a gold mine.

I always get a smile on my face when Americans talk about 'world coins'. It's like: for Americans there are Coins, Canadian coins, Mexican coins and World Coins. To us, rest-of-the-worldians, there's actually a lot of stuff going on on the 'dark side' and it has been for decades. It's huge what we have here and it's complicated. I only know my tiny share of it and I know there's tons and tons more to learn and, even better: to discover. Not all coins here are as well-documented (or even being over-analyzed as your VAMs are) as American coins. Lots of coins or coin sets have a great history and / or a great design. You're of course more than welcome to explore the Dark Side. We have cookies! ps. I'll be known as Darth UltraRant from now on.

Wow .. what a great looking coin.
But if I piled up $130k cash and this coin. Then if I had to choose ... I would pick the $130k
