Just won this on ebay. I have her pegged as an S-101, which is rated as an R5- variety. I'm thinking a conservative G-06. Edit: She is an S-103, or the LIHERTY variety with the reverse of 1794. What thinketh thou? Edited by TypeCoin971793 11/25/2016 3:07 pm

I'm actually at G04, but these always go a little higher, so probably G06 in a holder. Very nice! A bit hard to see, but is the top of the 6 touching the bust? It doesn't on an S-101.

I was wondering about that as well. For the reverse die, the S-101 had the only obverse die with the LIBERTY in the same place. I only have the seller's pictures to judge from. Please stand by as I do more research.

I would be leaning G 4 ... but would not be surprised if it graded G 6, based on these pictures.

So I too was watching this coin and couldn't figure the Sheldon number. I was using what I thought was a die crack (or is it a scratch) on the reverse from the top of the "1" in the fraction through the bottom of the wreath and into the ribbon. No luck with any 1796 I viewed but after that I thought it may be a 1798 but never had a chance to check that. I think it would grad out at VG-8 EAC6. Great original uncleaned color!

Your initial attribution of S-101 is correct. R5- is the commonly held consensus for scarcity. This is a nice example and extremely attractive! My EAC grade would be VG7 net G5. TPG grade VG8-VG10.

Quote: Your initial attribution of S-101 is correct. R5- is the commonly held consensus for scarcity. This is a nice example and extremely attractive! The first thing I saw was the reverse of 1794, which limited the possibilities to only a few varieties. Then the right side of the T was to the right of the front curl, narrowing it down to S-101 and 103. At first, I couldn't see the inverted B under the B, so I assumed it was 101. But the 6 is too high for a 101, so it must be 103. That is my logic. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
