Hi All I want to sell off some of my collection and want opinions or suggestions on the best place to sell. I've sold on ebay but I'm not a fan of all the fees being charged. I've also sold on Kijiji with limited success. Is there a coin collector forum like this for buying and selling to collectors? I know selling to merchants at coin shows is an option but shows don't come around every day. Thanks in advance. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

selling coins to merchants puts less money in your pocket. you need to cut out the middle man and sell right to the collector.. there is a buy and sell forum on here when you have enough posts.

As per my experience, unless you selling some popular coins, be prepared to get for them much less, than you paid. I usually list them for 60%-70% from issue with the Best Offer option, so when they sells for half a price, I already do not care about fees. So I think - ebay is the best, due to wide potential buyers circle.

ebay is actually a great option in my opinion. As long as you understand that the catalog price is like a serving suggestion on an ice cream container. It is an arbitrary number assigned to the item and not likely representative of what you may get for it. This is especially true for foreign coins. Use ebay prior sales to determine a likely sale price and subtract the fees. Then decide if it is worth your while to sell the item on ebay.

I use KIJIJI quite a bit and have a little success.

I see Kijiji is a Canadian listing place, which is why I'd never heard of it. If your prices are reasonable and you have enough posts here coins tend to zoom very quickly if they are decent quality and priced well. No fees of any kind. Just need to get your numbers up a bit. ebay is good if your items will sell for $20-$25, or more. Selling items for less than that amount really gets into a lot of time for very little final results. It takes as long to photograph, list, answer questions, send invoices, wait for payment, print the shipping label, package the item, take it to the PO, hope the customer is happy - for a $100 item or a $1 item. Plus, the higher prices do get a very small break on fees.

If you are careful, and have time to sell, craigslist or kijiji (both free listings) would perhaps garner you the most money. if you get your posts up to the minimum, there is a buy sell trade section on the site. and you might get a better price as well.

Another great way to sell is a LCS with regular bid board sales.

I have never done it but a local friend of mine has good success on a FaceBook page? He buys and sells all kinds of coins there.
