I see lots of tiny die flow lines from an old worn die.

Nice example of flow lines. Worth keeping just to show what happens with worn dies.

I'm no expert..... Are you sure this is a 1993? Looks similar to a WAM reverse. Thanks, Doug.

edit: Wondering if my old eyes playing tricks on me.

Not only is the die extremely worn, the devices are thinner as well from die abrasion. So the die is ready to retire. The coin can go back to work.

My bad , Fat fingers Hit the 9 instead of the 8 Thanks for the heads up. The coin will go to my grandson for educational purposes I should have posted a photo of the bust, as it has issues as well but didn't want to fill the page .

Thanks for the date correction. I lost some sleep over night wondering about that.

Wanted to add another point to ponder now concerning 1983 cents. This was the first year the mint went all out with copper plated zinc cents.

Some left over copper planchets found their way into the coining chamber and were struck this year. Something else to watch for.

Yours looks like a plated zinc coin, but I check the weight when ever I'm not 100% certain. Thanks, Doug.
