Hey, at least they got the certification number correct! The slab is a better counterfeit than the coin. Who was the seller, and what was their history and feedback score like?

I entered the number on the PCGS Certificate Verification site and there is no match. Also, the number on your slab seems too long. Here's the site: http://www.PCGS.com/cert/

This the reason why I think getting the coins picture taken should be included in the submission fees. It would really help end if not drastically slow the production of fake slabs.

Obverse is no where close to MS. There is no detail in the hair. Can't see an obverse like that being called MS66 by PCGS or any reasonable grader. Reverse looks better.

Seller seems a newbie. 13 positive reviews as a buyer. Has agreed to a full refund and profusely apologized. Says he bought it at an auction. Most likely a Chinese knock-off!

The coin itself is a horrid fake easily identified as such.
The slab also looks wrong, although it is a lot better than the coin.
Glad your seller was honest even if he probably got nailed on this thing.

When I checked the numbers, they both match on PCGS. I agree with the MS66 grading problem, but how can you tell it's fake?

Pics were blurry. It was a 24 hr auction. Price I finally paid was worth a punt in case it was a newbie coin seller. Lesson learnt. I am kinda a newbie myself. Will return coin tomorrow and expect a hassle free refund. Will confirm here when I do.

Shaf2b, I had seen this counterfeit coin on another coin forum when it was sold on ebay. I am sorry to hear that it was a CCF member that purchased the coin. I am glad that you are getting a refund.

As always, buy the coin not the holder - slabs are much easier to fake than coins
