Should there be a price difference on MS 65 graded Walking half dollars if they gave a gold tone to the color rather than the silver. Thanks. Edited by Pointer1160 01/01/2017 4:35 pm

Often, but the eye-appeal of that toning is critical. Pics please! to the CCF!

Quote: people pay up for toning I would slightly modify this to say that *some* people pay up for *attractive* toning.

The coin sold at Heritage on 7/31/16 for $1116.25. Silver coins with attractive gold toning can go for a small premium.

Or just "Walkers" for shorter typing.

This toning would not increase or decrease the value. It is subdued enough not to kick out a straight white collector, nor is it significant enough to gain additional value by a toner lover.
This, being a 67, doesn't need a lot of help keeping the price up.
Walkers are notoriously difficult to find with nice toning, but I don't think this example would be much affected.

Pointer ... in your original post you wrote MS 65, then posted a link with a MS 67 .... there is a lot of price difference between a 65 to 67.

Yes you are right. Sorry about that. Used that coin as it was a good illustration of the gold coloring. The question holds true whether MS 65 or 67. Thanks for the replies.

I am not usually a fan of toning on coins, but I like the toning on this coin. I think it enhances the value.
