I see no die break on the obverse of this coin. It also appears that the 4 of the date just took a well placed hit. You'll have to post a picture of the coin in a mirror for us to determine whether it has rotated reverse. This just looks like a damaged coin to me. Polished, maybe?

Cleaned coins are never "Superb".
The four is damaged.

It's not a 4 over 4 It's a well placed hit it took while in circulation

It is a well placed hit on the coin. Look at the overall size of the '4'. It is normal for that year. Another coin or event pushed the metal in a direction. The metal was moved over into the center of the 4. So it is PSD. Cleaned coins remove part of the surface of the coin. The outer layer was removed, and now you are looking at an under layer. People clean coins and it ruins the value to collectors. This is probably what happened to your coin also.

Yes - a well paced hit as everyone else has said. Also note how what you would consider the "top" 4 (if this were an error) has a much steeper slope to its angled front than a normal 4 does. Again - this just shows movement of the metal that deformed that angled front.

Quote: Is this a joke your comment ? No, I was not joking. I don't know any serious collectors who would refer to a cleaned coin as superb. I can't see the reverse side so this is an estimate, but I think your coin would grade G-06 details and maybe VG-08 depending on what the other side looks like.

I agree with all the above. It's definitely a keeper though, 1914.

I think I'm not at the right place here... Ihave posted 6 post et I only had negative comments... Im 41 yrs old...been collector for over half of my life... You think I'm a newbie....You think I'm crazy enough to keep in my collection a coin that has long term damage lolll About the cleaning of the coin...Certain coins have to slightly be cleaned due to all the dirt on it....the dirt can hide a beautiful error... You just throw away the dirty coins? You only find mistakes on perfectly clear coins? loll Anyway cleaned or not...it stays copper and a couple of days in the sun and it gets it oxydized look back... For patine...its a detail...According to you guys....I have passed half of my life collecting coins with false errors...et let passed good ones... Im laughing my lungs out!! My coins would have either passed in acid or errors done my damage....etc....hahahhahahhahahha

with the 4 looks more like a contact mark. Would like to see the reverse showing rotation. Flip the coin flip top to bottom, not side to side for US coin alignment. Thanks, Doug.

Right, just circulation damage, and agree that the word "superb" ought to be used carefully. Nothing wrong with a little humor now and then. to the CCF!

Age has no bearing in this. Collectors older than you and collectors younger than you have all weighed in. All of the comments are correct and truthful. It may be a truth you're not willing to hear. Try a local coin shop, and the only one who might agree with you is the person who sold the coin as an error.
We are only trying to inform you. You may perceive the comments as "negative" since they disagree with you opinion. Nobody was laughing at you. But since you started, I now feel like we have license to do so.
(By the way, I have a few SUPERB error coins to sell you. Just let me find a hammer, an acetylene torch, and some sandpaper. Back in five.)
