How could the rim and details be retained if it was pressed or rolled?

Texas cent. Evenly pressed or pounded between pieces of leather will yield this result. Thanks, Doug.

Please enlighten me, but as far as I understand, there is ZERO way this could have happened at the mint. The features are to scale which means that they are not the size of the dies that would have struck them.
as Halo1st says this can be done post mint.
Does anyone have an alternative theory?
Rest in Peace

Don't have another theory -- just even pressure over a covered coin will produce that result.

This dealer should be ashamed of him/herself. More than 10 pages of coins...and to pretend it is "possibly" a mint error is just wrong.

Dealer also has a "counterstamped" Buffalo nickel that is just damaged.

If this is something someone can just produce on there own, is it really even valuable?

This has been before. If he made this himself, you can bet he will have more to sell in the future. But it is an altered coin.

It is interesting the way there is still the coin relief and rim around the edge, but the coin is bigger?
