So I made my first ebay listing and I'm pretty excited about it but since I have never had the experience of selling any coins on ebay I thought I would go slow. The very first thing I noticed was that I only had the option to end the auction on 1,3,5,7 or 10 days. I didn't see where I could enter in the time that the auction ends. If anyone knows how to do that please let me know. If there's any other bits of feed back I sure would appreciate it. Tia. 152489407080 .... The ebay listing number

You should have the option (under Format & Price) of listing immediately or setting a time/day to start it and that will determine the end time/day based on the length you chose. Edit: I looked at the listing and I noticed the Item Description is blank. I know it is redundant but I, personally, don't like blank descriptions even though all the information is already there elsewhere. That said, if you add something, don't include your personal opinions of the coin. Maybe just restate what it is, reassure buyers it will be packaged well and invite them to ask questions if they may have any.

I always include something in the description such as: "Bid with confidence I have 100% positive feedback and accept returns within 14 days. Item includes original box and certification. See pictures for more information, the pictured coin(s) are exactly what the winning bidder will receive.
Winning bid includes USPS Priority Mail delivery w/tracking. I accept PayPal only. No International Bidders please. Thanks for looking!"Include any and all unusual characteristics in the description also.

Ag and Crazy. I sit everyday with a box beside my desk of things I need to list but I haven't ever sold anything on ebay...yet at least. Someday I will get brave and make my first listing. Good Luck!

I listed a couple other items but they might not show as I've been playing around with the "start" times...
I've tried find a way to find out how I could manipulate the time the auction ends.. specifically I'd like the auction to end between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Central standard time....
Thank you very much for the helpful hints so far... I'm not exactly sure any of these coins will actually sell but it's good to just run through the motions first and make improvements now before it really matters.
Thanks so much for the help and if there's any more tips out there please feel free to let me know.. I'm such a neophyte at this stuff

I looked at the first listing again and it's nice to see a description but, I would delete the first sentence. It's almost a sort of act you have to put on to appear professional with words. Actually being professional is important, too.

Thank you so much for your help ... I have already revised the description and taken out the first line as you said.

Multiple items will increase hits, and thus bids, for everything you list. The only way they will see you with a single coin listing is if that is specifically what they are searching for. Think of how you look for items when using ebay. If you find a neat item do you check to see what other neat items that seller might have? Most people do. Listing many low dollar starting price items will help all of your listings gain more hits.

That's a great poit moxking thank you... Right now it says I have just under 40 free listings... What does ebay charge to do a listing regularly? Is it a flat fee or only on the sale of an item?

So update... the original listing actually sold!
What I couldn't believe was the traffic that this coin received. I have no doubt it's because there were many on this forum that would check it out. I had over 90 views on this coin alone and less than 15 on any other coin listing.
The buyer of this coin has already paid via pay pal... So tonight I will get this coin ready to ship and tomorrow I hope to mail it out!

Quote:What does ebay charge to do a listing regularly? Is it a flat fee or only on the sale of an item? For me, there is a certain amount of things I can list per month without insertion fees (I don't know the number, 50?) and after that it's a $0.30 fee to list. Then, it refreshes each month. They used to run listing promotions but, I haven't seen one in a short while.

spruett001: Thank you for all your guidance in this new venture for me. I'll be honest I hadn't become a seller on ebay because just the thought of doing so was a bit overwhelming to me. I am very grateful for you and others that have provided me with feedback in this process, it really has been a very big help!

Just a follow up...
The whole process went really well and as it turns out a fellow member from here was my very first customer buying the 1985 PL nickel dollar!
Ended up being a positive experience for me so I posted a few more coins this week. I may have some questions like:
I am willing to combine shipping on multiple items but how does one do that from the seller POV?
What if someone wins and auction but if you look at their feedback you don't have a good feeling about the deal?

Well done! I, like Debrajc, have thought about listing some stuff -- but I always find something else to do.... Anyway, good for you!
