Hi guys! Picked this up this weekend. I'm thinking mid-upper AU no-FB. (Lots of luster, just hard to photograph.)

Quote: Looks fsb from the pics. Not looking to put you down ,but I feel a need to educate you on FSB's as well as a few other areas of coins in general . But for now ,for a Mercury dime to be designated FSB all bands must be fully separated with NO interruptions . NOT fused together by wear or weak strike . Again ,this post is solely meant to help young numismatics learn the different stages of the hobby . Hopefully the Mercury dime experts will chime in on this , giving further information .

AU58 and I agree with T-BOP on FSB. its important for grading to know what the standards are for various designations. this will help folks in their endeavors to progress in the their grading skills.

Only the center bands need to be split for the fb designation. I have previously given you a reference to TPG standards that clearly state this. I would like to see where you find the published grading standard that supports your grading standard. Here it is again in case you forgot. https://www.PCGS.com/News/Mercury-D...h-Full-Bands

This is where I disagree in TPG practice with FB designation, if there was 2 same MS grade and one has nearly full strike vs one that have weaker strike in the band area at top and bottom. I would for sure not label it FB to the one that doesn't have it split top and bottom.

When it comes to Fully Split Bands, I want all bands to be split, no matter what TPG companies say.

I respect your opinions. I differ with the TPGs too from time to time. I just object to someone "educating" me on their opinion as if it were an actual grading standard like an earlier poster tried to do.
