Quote: I got a special wrap double Stanley Cup roll - both ends had Stanley Cup Maybe you should put your rolls up on ebay and triple the price. Seems a lot of people care about the reverse being seen on the rolls. Just a thought.

Quote: Didn't seem to be a problem in the past. Obviously whatever packaging procedures were in place previously for the specially wrapped rolls have been disregarded to save time and additional expense. What happens to the unwanted rolls? Only those who don't care or intend to break them open and sell the coins individually may be interested in the double headers. Would have been even more interesting if they had been labelled and marketed as 'first strikes'. At a March coin show before this set was announced I noticed that Lighthouse is selling similar empty boxes for rolled coins.

You learn something new every day. I had never thought or heard of this aspect of the hobby before. Though I can understand since these are display pieces/rolls, it makes sense to prefer an OBV and REV showing.

Spoke with my friend, he told that ordered 3 sets and was anle to combine 1 proper set. Other two planned to go back to RCM. As I understand, people ready to pay premium not only for fancy packaging but To See New Reverse as well. Our dear mint had to understand it.

Mildly curious. Did anyone order and receive the 2017 classic coins in special wrap/box set? Is there a similar issue with those coins especially given that there is nothing special about the design on the reverse?

As I had ordered both the Canada150 and the Classic set, they had shipped the Canada150, and indicated that the Classic set would be treated as a subscription - in a month. Having said that, after I complained about having double-head rolls to return, I was told that they would not be replacing the set, but cancelling it - on the grounds that it was random, and couldn't guarantee a flawless set of rolls - and as such, would cancel my classic set as well... with the same statement. (not a happy camper)

(not a happy camper) @Dcadon Looks like RCM's "Specially selected" phrase in the COA means "randomly thrown together." Maybe try your luck at Canada Post?

Someone on another thread was asking about probabilities of certain combinations of Toonies. So I thought I would do a calculation for people ordering a 5 roll set of the five denominations. I was a high school math teacher; now retired.
Let us assume that you want at least one non-head side showing on each roll. We will not concern ourselves with the coloured coin issue, just the Head/Tail chances. Any given roll can have ends with HH, HT, TH, TT. The only bad one is HH, you do not want that.
Chance of success is 3/4 or 75% on roll one.
But you want that for each of the five rolls so chances of no rolls coming up with HH is .75 x.75 x.75 x .75 x .75 =0.2373 or 24%.
Bottom line is that only one of every four sets will arrive with at least one tail side showing on each of the five rolls.
Would people be willing to pay four times going rate to get a set like that? Maybe double? I have no idea but at least now you know rare or hard it is to randomly get a set NOT all heads.
If you want exactly one head and one tail at each end for all five rolls, that would be way harder to do. I believe it comes in at 3% or only 3 in a 100 sets of five.
For those of you who sat in the back of the math class and said "when will I ever need this stuff", well now you know!
I did not order these coins and now that I know the odds I am even less likely to want to. I just want one coin of each and would rather spend $185 plus tax on something else.

If collectors made a huge fuss over these so called special rolls, and enough gets returned the RCM will or I guess manually insert the first and last coins to produce a head tail roll as they should for the premiums they are charging. This is a simple solution to the problem, but knowing the RCM they are going to have a survey first before preceding.

Since the RCM says it is a random process I find it a little bit funny that the two pictures on their website showing the different sets of 5 rolls all have the tails side facing the front (it's on an extreme angle but if you zoom in you can't see any heads). Odds of that are 0.1%. Looks like luck is on the RCM's side.

Just open and calculated 5 pcs My Canada, My Inspiration Special Wrap Rolls.
The result: $2 - image on 3 rolls, double head on 2 rolls $1 - image on 5 rolls, double head on 0 roll. $0.25 - image on 5 rolls, double head on 0 roll. $0.10 - image on 3 rolls, double head on 2 rolls. $0.05 - image on 4 rolls, double head on 1 roll.
Conclusion: I can arrange different denomination of rolls to make up total 3 out of 5 complete sets ( images on all 5 rolls )

Quote: $0.05 - image on 4 rolls, double head on 1 roll. Thanks for the into, justsilver. I now have hope for the 5 cent roll. Ordered two more from CP. I order at least two of everything from RCM, and send back the defective one. Unfortunately, these roll sets might require more than three orders. RCM products are getting more and more like electronics these days. I have to order at least three electronic products to get a good one, and then return the two flawed ones. Lack of quality control seems to be rampant everywhere.
