Hi all,

I just joined this forum after inheriting my grandfathers collection. I'm an amateur coin collector, so am versed in those dos and don'ts, but I'm afraid paper money is new to me and I have no idea about best practices, finding information, etc. Any advice is very welcome!

Besides coins, he left me:
1. 1953 B uncirculated sequential $2 Dillon bills (25)
2. 1957 B uncirculated sequential $1 Anderson bills (100, last one is a *)
3. 1963 B circulated nonsequential $1 Barr bills (180)
4. 1963 B uncirculated sequential $1 Barr bills (100)

What's the best way to handle and store these? What is your favorite resource for valuation? If I decide to branch out from coins, how would you build on this as a start?

Thanks for any help!

Thanks - didn't realize coins were similar to paper, although I'm having a little trouble with how that translates, but I'll figure it out.

Since I see others posting pics, here's a pic of the 1957 pack:

to the family!

Whoa! There's gotta be a way to protect that stack! I know there are single bill protectors so there should be something, have to find out. That stands to be worth a lot unbroken! Wow. Don't have many bills myself, not in that shape for sure.

to CCF. Look for fancy serial numbers and low run notes. Store individual notes in Mylar sleeves and maybe put bundles in a zip-lock and remove as much air as possible.

Yea I would store them in a safe in a plastic bag so moisture doesn't get to them. The fact that all are sequential numbered could be worth a good bit of money. I'd take them to a dealer and get an opinion. If your looking to sell I'd check out prices sold on ebay, heritage, etc.

Thanks for the advice! Any opinions on how to build on this collection? I collect commemorative coins and Ben Franklin half dollars, so am used to focusing in. Not sure how that translates to paper money.

Welcome to CCF Coronet.

The Barr notes (except stars) are an urban legend, and not worth much above face.

I keep my 100 pack notes in Capital Pack holders.....keeps them from any additional damage.
