Very pretty Barber half, blast white would make me feel it has been dipped, with minimal abrasions and some slight flatness. The dip makes it appears MS to me but I would say AU 58.

I'm at an easy 64 maybe a 65. Agree it has been dipped but in the right way.

Yeah, looking at the area below the shield and above the tailfeathers, it looks like a fairly big patch of rub, and the top right portion of the shield looks rubbed too, so probably not UNC.
The color of the shield changes abruptly along a straight line, and the surfaces have a subtly ashen look that suggests it has been dipped to me too. See a few dark and light streaks horizontally in the stars above the eagle.
I am revising to AU details - cleaned.

Very interesting. Quite a diverse mix of opinions.
The coin is graded Unc-details(cleaning) by PCGS. I have it at m-64 not factoring in cleaning.
Just goes to prove the importance of series specialists. Tough to judge the grade of a coin that has strike issues.

I'd buy it.
Weakly struck areas will still have luster, while worn areas won't. Once you recognize the difference, you can accurately make the determination.

It is not Mint State. There is friction on the cheek and possible impaired luster because of the dipping. The dipping may have gone too far. That could result in a drop in grade to AU-53 or 55 or a possible "details grade" if the luster is really impaired.
