Hi everyone I just recently received inheritance and this coin was among the batch. I don't know much about coins. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it is real then perhapsI would go get it graded professionally. It is silver, and it weighs 26.74 grams on my scale. Thank you

I couldn't say for certain, but it has some things going for it. The weight is decently on target given the wear and tolerance. (i think tolerance alone could account for that) The variety would be the hidden star variety. Matching it up to a known genuine of that variety- nothing sticks out as being off. Can you show some edge pictures?
EDITED to add: Lets see what some of the dollar experts have to share.

Check out this thread. There is a link to a site which allows positive identification of the known dollars of this type (and other). Put yours through the easy to use system, and then check out details as I show with pics in this link. http://goccf.com/t/287898&whichpage=2

I am also almost convinced this thing is real, and am very close to making an appointment For it to be graded professionally.
I just can't seem to find any pictures of the edges online for this.

Generally, if you bet a 1795 is fake, you'll be right more than 99% of the time. But I'm not spotting anything off on this piece. Best of luck in a positive TPG agreement.

Wow! Not what I was expecting.
This one feels genuine, and around VF. Try to nail down the variety.

You know, I am not an expert on anything, but I wish if people are going to throw out the opinion that a coin is fake that they would back up that opinion with some reasons. It is pretty easy to just say that something is fake, but it adds nothing to the discussion without something to back it up.

Thank you all so much for all the help, I am really happy about it :)
I just asked for help on the other grading forums just now.
And will get it professionally checked out at PCGS or NGC soon.
God bless you all

I took the pics you posted from the Heritage site and drew some random lines through various devices. The Heritage pics are of a coin perfectly perpendicular to the plane of the camera lens while yours is angled. So the lines match very close, but I suspect the angle of your pic alters them somewhat. I also know my lines are not pixel perfect as I used a fast editing program. Here are the OBV pics: Your REV pic is still slightly angled, so again, there is a bit of non-perfection in matching up devices: If this were mine, I would take more pics making sure to have a 90 degree angle from coin surface to lens. Then I would repeat the above. BTW - the program I used to draw the lines is a free download: just google "Skitch,"or "Skitch for windows." Its very simple and pretty much self explanatory. Its meant for fast editing. I have an older version b/c I liked it better, so am not knowledgeable about the newer version. After this I would do a specific gravity test. http://goccf.com/t/39666You will need to look up what the SG is supposed to be on one of these dollars. If it passes those tests, I would be very surprised if it was not real. Of course I don't have it in hand, and I am no expert.

Speaking as if it were mine (I wish), at this point I would be sending it to PCGS for authentication/grading. I would be willing to spend the money to find out if I actually had a multi-K dollar valued coin. My first hunch was that it is genuine and, I think, the further discussion and analysis is consistent with that.
I think professional in-hand evaluation is needed.

That's a really nice coin. It looks very original and very real. I believe it will grade F12 minimum. Great find! That has always been one of my dream coins!

Did you inherit anything else in the collection that you care to share with us? I wish you luck in verifying the authenticity of your coin.
