I wasn't looking to spend some serious money when I started cruising ebay tonight, but I came across this lovely 1905 Liberty Half Eagle graded MS-64 by PCGS. I've long wanted a nice mint state U.S. gold coin and this one really caught my fancy.

I put in a bid, not expecting to get it, but I did.

I'm thrilled!

My birthday is on Wednesday, so I'm using that fact to justify my impulsive buy.

I just told my wife she doesn't have to buy me a present, even though I'm paying for it from my coin fund. My coin fund just got a lot smaller.

Looks like a clean 64 as well, especially the reverse. Nice!

Beautiful coin and a good call at MS-64 as I personally think that is an achievable and affordable grade on many 20th century gold coins. Nice coin with minimum marks and no distractions.
