Anyone know what I'm looking at here? I don't see any examples in my books of the mint mark being so far off in 1964.

I don't think it's misplaced mint mark. I think it is some damage that just happens to be near the mint mark and sort of looks like it.

From what I can see of the coin, it has some circulation damage so something hit it, or it was a chemical/environmental reaction.

Thanks for the reply. It's definitely a circulated coin. Just very strange how the mark looks just like a D.

As much as I would have liked to have found something original...took a pic from a different angle and man what a difference

That is a carbon spot on that area. Not a mint mark punch.
