Imagine if you could travel to any time in history, and bring one piece of numismatic knowledge with you. Where would you go, during what year, and what knowledge would you bring along?
I'll start. Travel back to 1925 with the knowledge that silver coins would be discontinued in 1964.

@roycoinboy, So what would you do with this bit of knowledge? Do you get to come back to your home year?

Do I get to come back? I'd go back to 1792, stay a few years and collect as many early US coins as possible. Bury them someplace I know that today has remained undisturbed since then in a good environmentally safe place and go and get them when I got back. Wouldn't that be neat? I'd also go try and meet Thomas Jefferson.

It might be fun to go back to January 18, 1980 with some silver bars.

Perhaps I'd travel back to 1870, go to Carson City, NV and become a well-respected Mint employee for a good while. Of course, I'd have to be able to take current knowledge back with me.

Around the first couple of months of 1955 in Philly and buy as many $50 bags of Lincoln cents as I can . Then have the time of my life searching for the King Of DDO .

It would be great to go back to around 1971 and blow up the Pobjoy Mint in Sutton, Surrey, then hop over to the USA and do the same with the Franklin Mint! (Ensuring of course that all employees were safe, but making sure all the coin presses were completely destroyed).

How about to 1933, keeping in mind that the 1933 Saint Gaudens dollar was going to be destroyed, and grab a bunch of them, bury them somewhere environmentally safe, like TheNickelGuy said, then uncover them today (hopefully).

Er, you don't want to know. People in dire straits will make ridiculous deals. Remember, you have to take gobs of money now worthless and easy to obtain.

A late nite drive in Ontario about 2012, what's that, a Brinks truck just lost it's load on the highway. Need any 'help' collecting your coins? Turns out they are the hard ones to find now a days.

If only I knew in 1965 what I know now. I wouldn't want to go back and risk missing anything I've already lived though.

Can we bring anything back with us? I wonder how many uncirculated gold Aureii emperor Nero would trade for a spice rack, or a fidget spinner Within my own lifespan, I sure could use the money that could have been made by using all of my birthday and Christmas money to buy silver, sell it all in early 2008, buy it all back in early 2009, then sell it all again in early 2011. Although truthfully, I would be a heck of a lot richer if I put my couple thousand into the stock market in the late 90s.
