I haven't seen these come up for auction very often.

I've been watching these for a long time hoping to get a deal on one. Nice snag! Circulated in Canada as well, if not moreso.
1767 French Colonies West Indies copper SOU
RF republic france countermark. Those without the RF fetch more in same grade as those with.
Decent example. I see it is slabbed, so I am going to venture it has a grade of Fine.
How'd I do?

Sweet pick-up @mikef! I find colonials to be addicting.

A bit off. It's graded vf-30 by NGC. These things are so primitive and crudely struck I don't see how anyone can grade them accurately.

See that edit up there? I did give it a VF first. LOL
I went the wrong way. That's a dandy!

This one is a decent specimen. These pieces typically demonstrate much wear and/or damage. Personally, I'd grade this one Fine-12 with an above average planchet.

Thanks for the comment EXoguy! I wasn't looking to spend a ton. I thought the coin was cool because of the history and the 'Colonies' reference on the reverse. I'll post a pic when it comes in.

Thanks bro. I always watch the colonials that come up for auction on Heritage. Whenever I see one that I haven't seen before, it strikes my interest. The au and ms coins that fall into this category always sell for thousands. I don't have enough conviction to spend that kind of money. But vf coins for a couple hundred are far more palatable.
